Eine langjährige Verbindung in die USA
Die aktuelle USA-Reise des KTM Kosak Racing Teams mit Roan van de Moosdijk zu den AMA Pro Motocross Nationals kommt nicht von ungefähr. Bereits in der Vergangenheit waren zahlreiche US-amerikanische Fahrer beim KOSAK Racing Team in Deutschland zu Gast.
James "Bubba" Stewart – der wohl bekannteste Name
Der wohl bekannteste Name in dieser Geschichte ist ohne Zweifel James „Bubba“ Stewart. Der spätere mehrfache AMA-Supercross- und Motocross-Champion sowie einer der spektakulärsten Fahrer aller Zeiten wurde bereits 1999 und 2000 bei der Junioren-Weltmeisterschaft in Gaildorf vom KOSAK Racing Team betreut. Damals galt Stewart als Ausnahmetalent – nur wenige Jahre später schrieb er Motorsportgeschichte und wurde zu einer Legende des Sports.
Die Alessi-Brüder und Jason Thomas
Auch die Brüder Jeff und Mike Alessi, zwei der bekanntesten amerikanischen Nachwuchsfahrer ihrer Generation, gingen bei Supercross-Veranstaltungen für das KOSAK Racing Team an den Start. Besonders Mike Alessi entwickelte sich später zu einem erfolgreichen Fahrer der amerikanischen Motocross-Szene und feierte zahlreiche Siege und Podiumsplätze in der AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Ein weiterer bekannter Name ist Jason Thomas. Der US-Amerikaner fuhr in den 2000er-Jahren ebenfalls für das KOSAK Racing Team bei deutschen Supercross-Veranstaltungen. Heute kennen ihn zahlreiche Motocross-Fans in Nordamerika als TV-Kommentator und Experten für die AMA-Supercross- und Pro-Motocross-Serien. Mit seinen Analysen begleitet er Woche für Woche Millionen Motorsportfans.
Casey Johnson und Chad Reed
Auch Casey Johnson hinterließ seine Spuren in der Geschichte des Teams. Der US-Pilot gewann mehrfach Supercross-Rennen in Deutschland und sorgte mit seinen spektakulären Auftritten für Begeisterung in den Hallen. Sein größter Erfolg unter der KOSAK-Fahne war der Gewinn des renommierten Warsteiner SX-Cups im Jahr 2003.
Doch nicht nur amerikanische Stars vertrauten auf das KOSAK Racing Team. Mit dem Australier Chad Reed stand ein weiterer späterer Weltstar im Team. Reed startete 2001 sowohl bei deutschen Supercross-Rennen als auch bei ausgewählten Läufen der damaligen Inter-DM, der heutigen ADAC MX Masters. Bereits kurze Zeit später entwickelte er sich zu einem der erfolgreichsten Motocross- und Supercross-Fahrer der Welt und gewann mehrere AMA-Meisterschaften.
Hunter und Jett Lawrence – Weltstars im Nachwuchs betreut
Auch die heute weltbekannten Brüder Hunter und Jett Lawrence verbindet ein besonderes Kapitel mit der Geschichte von KOSAK. Beide wurden bei mehreren internationalen Junioren-Weltmeisterschaften vom KOSAK Racing Team betreut. Dazu gehörten Einsätze in Lierneux (Belgien), Orlyonok (Russland) und Jinín (Tschechien).
Bereits damals galten die beiden Australier als außergewöhnliche Talente. Jett Lawrence gewann 2014 in Lierneux den Titel des FIM-Junioren-Weltmeisters in der 65-ccm-Klasse. Hunter gehörte ebenfalls zum australischen Aufgebot und wurde später in Jinín mit nur einem Punkt Rückstand Vizeweltmeister. Heute zählen beide zu den erfolgreichsten Motocross- und Supercross-Fahrern der Welt und haben zahlreiche Titel in der AMA Pro Motocross Championship, der AMA Supercross Championship und der SuperMotocross World Championship gewonnen.
Eine internationale Geschichte
Diese Namen zeigen eindrucksvoll, welchen Stellenwert das KOSAK Racing Team bereits seit den 1990er-Jahren im internationalen Motocross und Supercross besitzt.
Ein neues Kapitel in den USA
Mit dem aktuellen AMA-Projekt schreibt das KTM Kosak Racing Team nun ein neues Kapitel seiner Geschichte: Erstmals bestreitet das Team mit einem eigenen Stammfahrer zwei Rennen in den USA. Roan van de Moosdijk geht für das KOSAK Racing Team bei den traditionsreichen AMA Pro Motocross-Veranstaltungen in RedBud und Southwick an den Start. Damit ist das Team nicht mehr nur durch die Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Spitzenfahrern mit dem amerikanischen Rennsport verbunden, sondern erstmals selbst mit einem eigenen Fahrer auf amerikanischem Boden im Renneinsatz.

So reiht sich eine beeindruckende Liste internationaler Spitzenfahrer in die Geschichte des KOSAK Racing Teams ein: James „Bubba“ Stewart, Mike und Jeff Alessi, Jason Thomas, Casey Johnson, Chad Reed sowie Hunter und Jett Lawrence. Viele dieser Fahrer wurden später zu Weltstars des Motocross- und Supercross-Sports.
Dass sie bereits in jungen Jahren oder während ihrer internationalen Karriere unter der KOSAK-Fahne an den Start gingen und vom Team unterstützt werden konnten, ist bis heute ein besonderer Teil unserer Geschichte.
A Longstanding Connection to the USA
The KTM Kosak Racing Team's current journey to the United States with Roan van de Moosdijk for the AMA Pro Motocross Championship is no coincidence. Over the years, numerous American riders have been part of the KOSAK Racing Team during their appearances in Germany.
James "Bubba" Stewart – The Most Iconic Name
Without a doubt, the most famous name in this story is James "Bubba" Stewart. The future multiple AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion, and one of the most spectacular riders the sport has ever seen, was supported by the KOSAK Racing Team at the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in Gaildorf in 1999 and 2000. Even then, Stewart was regarded as an exceptional talent. Just a few years later, he made motocross history and became one of the sport's greatest legends.
The Alessi Brothers and Jason Thomas
Brothers Jeff and Mike Alessi, two of the most promising American riders of their generation, also competed for the KOSAK Racing Team at German Supercross events. Mike Alessi went on to become one of the leading riders in American motocross, earning numerous race wins and podium finishes in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Another well-known name is Jason Thomas. The American raced for the KOSAK Racing Team in German Supercross events during the 2000s. Today, he is widely recognized across North America as a television commentator and expert for the AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross Championships. Casey Johnson and Chad Reed
Casey Johnson also left his mark on the team's history. The American rider claimed multiple Supercross victories in Germany and thrilled fans with his spectacular performances. His greatest success under the KOSAK Racing banner came in 2003 when he won the prestigious Warsteiner SX Cup.
The KOSAK Racing Team was not only trusted by American stars. Australian rider Chad Reed, who would later become one of the biggest names in motocross and supercross, also raced for the team. Reed competed in German Supercross events as well as selected rounds of the former German International Motocross Championship (Inter-DM), now known as the ADAC MX Masters. Shortly afterward, he established himself as one of the world's most successful motocross and supercross riders, winning multiple AMA championships.
Hunter and Jett Lawrence – Future World Stars Supported in Their Youth
Today, Hunter and Jett Lawrence are among the biggest names in world motocross, but they also share a special chapter in KOSAK Racing history. Both riders were supported by the KOSAK Racing Team at several FIM Junior Motocross World Championships, including events in Lierneux (Belgium), Orlyonok (Russia) and Jinín (Czech Republic).
Even at a young age, the Australian brothers were considered extraordinary talents. In 2014, Jett Lawrence won the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in the 65cc class at Lierneux. Hunter was also part of the Australian national team and later finished runner-up at the Junior World Championship in Jinín in 2012, missing the title by just a single point. Today, both brothers rank among the world's most successful motocross and supercross riders, having won numerous AMA Pro Motocross, AMA Supercross and SuperMotocross World Championship titles.

These names clearly demonstrate the international reputation the KOSAK Racing Team has built in motocross and supercross since the 1990s.
A New Chapter in the United States
With its current AMA project, the KTM Kosak Racing Team is writing another chapter in its history. For the very first time, the team is contesting two AMA Pro Motocross rounds in the United States. Roan van de Moosdijk represents the KOSAK Racing Team at the legendary RedBud and Southwick Nationals. This marks the first time the team is not only connected to American racing through international riders, but is competing on American soil with its own rider and its own race program.
International Stars Under the KOSAK Banner
Over the years, an impressive list of internationally renowned riders has raced under the KOSAK Racing banner, including James "Bubba" Stewart, Mike and Jeff Alessi, Jason Thomas, Casey Johnson, Chad Reed, and Hunter and Jett Lawrence. Many of them went on to become world-class motocross and supercross stars.
The fact that these riders competed under the KOSAK Racing banner during their early careers or at important stages of their professional journey—and that the team had the opportunity to support them—is a special part of the KOSAK Racing Team's history and something we are still proud of today.
